Look up into the night sky – what do you see? Even if you don’t know the names of the constellations, you know they are there. But what you may not know are the ways in which some of these wandering stars are speaking directly to you. Each planet is embedded in a web of mythic stories that describes an archetypal initiation. These experiences are universal like; growing up, falling in love, being in relationship, finding right livelihood, aging, etc. The way in which we go through these experiences is very unique to each of us and astrology gives us instructions for how best to navigate them.

Think of astrology as an elegant language that describes the story of who we are now and awakens us to the possibilities of what we may yet become. It provides guidance by telling us where we are in our unfolding personal narrative and provides an uncannily accurate map of what’s coming up next. It might be useful in the case of thinking about a job change, to know that you are in the midst of a Uranian story and unexpected events may make the transition more surprising than you planned. Or maybe you are beginning a Pluto initiation in a few months. It can be really useful to know a little about that story in which obsession, loss, and betrayal figure prominently. An astrology reading is like having access to a big cosmic daytimer that describes our appointments with Fate. It not only tells us when we will be initiated but also describes how we might be affected and what we might do once the process has begun. In other words, astrology describes the shapes of things to come.
